Tile, LVP/LVT, hardwood.
All the way through.

Everything below includes the part that decides whether a floor lasts: prep, movement joints, waterproofing and full coverage. That's not an add-on line — it's the job. Schluter®-Systems certified, owner operated, free in-home consultation and a written quote within 24 hours.

Marble shower behind frameless glass with a basketweave mosaic pan
01 — Showers & wet areas

Built to stay dry behind the tile.

Most shower failures aren't tile failures — they're waterproofing failures, and you don't find out for five years. We build the assembly first and treat the tile as the finish it is.

  • Full tear-out, inspection and rebuild of rotted substrate
  • Bonded sheet or liquid membrane, seams and corners banded
  • Sloped mud beds and pre-sloped pans, flood-tested before tile
  • Curbless entries and linear drains for zero-threshold baths

02 — Tiled floors

Flat first. Then tile.

Large-format tile is unforgiving — an ⅛" hump in the slab becomes a lippage edge you catch with your toe. We level and uncouple before anything gets set.

  • Self-levelling underlayment to flatten out-of-tolerance floors
  • Uncoupling and crack-isolation membranes over concrete and plywood
  • Large-format porcelain, wood-look plank, natural stone, mosaic
  • Back-buttering and coverage checks on every tile over 15"

Herringbone mosaic mudroom floor
Floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace
03 — Fireplaces & surrounds

The wall everyone looks at.

A fireplace is the one surface in the house nobody stops noticing. Floor-to-ceiling slab-look, stacked stone, or a tight mitered surround — it needs to be dead plumb and dead level.

  • Floor-to-ceiling and hearth-height surrounds
  • Non-combustible board and correct clearances to the firebox
  • Mitered outside corners so no trim piece breaks the run
  • Stacked stone, slab-look porcelain, brick and cement tile

04 — Backsplashes

Tile people stand two feet from.

A backsplash is small, visible and full of cuts. Outlets, corners, the run behind the range, and where it dies into the cabinet — that's where the work shows.

  • Zellige, handmade, subway, mosaic and slab-look panels
  • Mitered outside corners — a clean edge without bulky trim
  • Tight, symmetrical outlet cuts with box extenders set right
  • Layout planned so the range wall lands on full tiles

Emerald arabesque backsplash, wall to wall
Tiled stair treads with fluted risers and an iron railing
05 — Stairs & treads

Every step the same height.

Stairs are the fussiest thing in the house and the easiest to get wrong. Riser heights have to match within a quarter inch or people trip — so we shim, scribe and template every tread.

  • Solid hardwood treads and painted or stained risers
  • LVP/LVT stair kits with matching nosing
  • Tiled entry steps with proper edge trim
  • Risers scribed and templated so every step matches

06 — LVP/LVT & hardwood

Waterproof plank, real wood, both.

LVP and LVT have gotten very good — waterproof, kid-proof, and they go over most existing floors. Hardwood still wins on resale and refinishability. We'll tell you honestly which one fits the room.

  • Click-lock and glue-down luxury vinyl plank and tile (LVP/LVT)
  • Solid and engineered hardwood, nail-down or floating
  • Moisture testing on slab before anything goes down
  • Underlayment, expansion gaps and transitions done right

Common questions

Straight answers.

What does a job actually cost?
It depends far more on prep and layout than on the material you pick. A 5×3 shower rebuild lands in a very different place than a backsplash, and a herringbone floor costs more in labour than a stacked one. Book the free in-home consultation and you'll have one written number within 24 hours.
How long will my bathroom be out of service?
A typical shower rebuild runs 4–7 working days including waterproofing cure and grout. Tiled floors are usually 2–3 days. Backsplashes are often a single day plus grout. LVP over an existing floor can be same-day for a room. You get a schedule in writing with the quote.
LVP or hardwood — which should I do?
Kids, dogs, basements or anywhere that might see water: LVP, every time. Main-floor living space where you want resale value and the option to refinish in fifteen years: hardwood. If the slab reads high on moisture, that decides it for you.
Do you supply the material, or do I?
Either. Plenty of customers enjoy picking their own at a local supplier — we'll give you the exact square footage plus waste so you don't over- or under-buy. If you'd rather not deal with it, we bring samples to the consultation.
What does Schluter®-Systems certified mean for me?
Schluter makes the waterproofing membranes, uncoupling mats and profiles behind most high-end tile work. Being certified means we install their systems the way the manufacturer specifies — which is what qualifies the work for manufacturer-backed warranty support. It's the difference between a shower that's tiled and one that's built.
Do you work outside Bismarck–Mandan?
Regularly. Lincoln, Menoken, Baldwin, Wilton, New Salem and Washburn are all normal. Farther than that, call and we'll talk about it.
